Indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase or IDO is an enzyme involved in the human body's metabolism of the essential amino acid tryptophan.[1]
The IDO enzyme degrades (converts) tryptophan into kynurenine, and this process is strongly linked to the IDO1 and IDO2 genes.[1][2]
