Penelope "Penny" L. Friedman, MD, works at the NIH as part of their Clinical Center’s Internal Medicine Consult Service (IMCS) team. Other members of the IMCS team include in-Chief Dr. Fred Gill and nurse practitioner Stacey Solin. The IMCS plays a supportive role in clinical studies in that they diagnose and care for general medical problems and coordinate the care of complex patient cases involving multiple specialists, thus assisting the researchers by helping to manage medical problems of research subjects.[1]
Dr. Friedman is one of the investigators assigned to the NIH Post-Infectious ME/CFS Study at the National Institutes of Health being headed by Avindra Nath, MD.[2]
