Future suggestion[edit source | reply | new]
MediaWiki has a great padlock symbol eh message, we could copy that but using the message we already have. It uses Template:Fmbox. We already have padlock images for Full and Semi protection uploaded. Links below Njt (talk) 18:59, September 27, 2019 (EDT) Semi-protection example and Full protection example

Talk page messages[edit source | reply | new]
We could also add text suggesting they use the talk page, eg
Use the [[{{TALKPAGENAME}}{{#if:{{{talksection|}}}|#{{{talksection}}}}}|talk page]] to request changes to this page.
- User:Pyrrhus the code above will create a link to the talk page of whichever page is being edited. The layout looks bad with the new padlock - squashed and I would have expected the image on the right instead. What about using the newly created Template:Protected, which we can then tweak (and fully protect when finished). The code for this at the moment would be:
{{protected|semi}}

This page is currently semi-protected and can be edited only by established users. Other users are welcome to propose changes on the discussion page. For more information, see MEpedia:Page protection. |
Any existing message could go under it, possibly in bold. The template approach is currently used on Wikipedia and MediaWiki. Font size, background color, border, padding etc are all easy to change. ~Njt (talk) 08:29, October 1, 2019 (EDT)
