MEpedia:Page protection
From MEpedia, a crowd-sourced encyclopedia of ME and CFS science and history
Some pages on MEpedia are protected from editing. There are two protection levels, semi-protection and full protection. Page protection is managed by administrators. You can view a list of all protected pages here: Special:ProtectedPages.
Semi-protection
Semi-protected pages can be edited by
- Administrators, or
- Established (autoconfirmed) users, unless they are moderated users
Other users should post requests on the relevant Talk page.
Semi-protected pages
Reasons for semi-protecting pages include:
- Avoiding problems on critical pages, e.g. the top ten pages
- Avoiding vandalism on previously vandalized pages or pages with a history of edit wars
- Avoiding anonymous or disruptive editors from editing on controversial topics
- Ensuring very new editors do not change documentation without discussion
Full protection
Fully protected pages can only be edited by administrators.
Other users should post requests on the relevant Talk page.
Fully protected pages
Pages that are typically fully protected include:
- Standard user interface messages displayed to all users (MediaWiki namespace)
- Certain essential templates or redirects
- Policy pages that only need to be edited by administrators
- Final-status pages that are not meant to be edited
