Ranitidine is an anti-histamine that acts on the H2 histamine receptor, but was withdrawn from sale in the United States in 2020.[1] Ranitidine is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines, to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and to reduce stomach acid in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is sold under the brand name Zantac.[1]

Rantidine was withdrawn from sale in the US in 2020 due to safety issues, after a cancer-causing impurity was found to be present at in many rantidine products.[1]
