Bromelain is an enzyme that naturally occurs in pineapple extract. Bromelain supplements are often used for inflammation and pain, especially from osteoarthritis, to debride burns or other wounds (as Debridase), to increase absorption of antibiotics or other medications, and for sinitus or bronchitis.[1][2][3] Bromelain supplements usually contain stem bromelain rather than fruit bromelain from the pineapple fruit.[3]
