Beth Pollack

Beth Pollack is a Research Scientist in the MIT Department of Biological Engineering. Her work deals with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), long COVID, chronic Lyme, POTS/dysautonomia, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), small fiber neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS)/symptomatic hypermobility. She is also interested in those conditions' relationship with autoimmune, gastrointestinal, gynecological, spinal, and sleep conditions. She is developing a cross-condition research project called Project Connect.

postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) - A form of orthostatic intolerance where the cardinal symptom is excessive tachycardia due to changing position (e.g. from lying down to sitting up).

dysautonomia disorders of the autonomic nervous system that cause disturbances in all or some autonomic functions, may cause problems regulating autonomic functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and digestion. Can cause symptoms including lightheadedness, fainting, unstable blood pressure, and orthostatic intolerance.
