Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, or Motor Neuron Disease (MND), is a rare and fatal degenerative neurological disease that affects a person's motor neurons, and is characterized by "increasing and spreading muscle weakness".[1]
