Ben Z. Katz, MD, is a pediatric infectious disease specialist and a Professor at Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, United States. His research interests include the pathophysiology of viral infections in immunocompromised vs. normal hosts, post-Epstein-Barr virus chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic granulomatous disease and HIV.[1] As a member of the DePaul University Myalgic Encephalomyelitis & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Research Team, Dr. Katz works frequently with Dr. Leonard Jason.[2] Dr. Katz has studied chronic fatigue syndrome since the Incline Village chronic fatigue syndrome outbreak in 1984.[3]

IOM Committee on Diagnostic Criteria for ME/CFS[edit | edit source]

Dr Katz was a reviewer for the 2015 report produced by the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Diagnostic Criteria for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.[4]

ME/CFS Common Data Element (CDE) Project[edit | edit source]

Member of the Autonomic Working Group of the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Common Data Element (CDE) Project sponsored by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).[5]
