House was an American TV show starring Hugh Laurie.

Pilot Episode[edit | edit source]

In the pilot episode (27:05, 42:57), Dr. House speaks with a patient who describes symptoms of tiredness. The patient suggests it might be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, to which Dr. House replies that tiredness is a symptom of getting older and dismisses his problems with concentration by stating it did not prevent him from researching the condition on the Internet. After the man suggests he thinks he may have fibromyalgia, Dr. House sarcastically suggests it is an excellent diagnosis and "proves" the man is a hypochondriac by giving him candies in a prescription bottle for which the man later returns to get more.

Season 5, episode 12[edit | edit source]

Fibromyalgia is treated more seriously, with it being suggested a patient may have the condition and that "the American College of Rheumatology" recognizes "specific diagnostic criteria" for fibromyalgia, but the patient's particular case fails to meet the criteria.
