Dysphonia
From MEpedia, a crowd-sourced encyclopedia of ME and CFS science and history
ased on findings of the present study, we can add medically unexplained symptoms such as IBS, FMS, and CFS to the list of precipitants and risk factors of FVD development. In the study sample, a substantial percentage (30.7%) of patients with CPS presented with muscle tension dysphonia, which was common among all of the individual diseases under medically unexplained symptoms but was different in the control population. The overrepresentation of FVD and the relatively lower rates of objective findings on laryngoscopy shared among IBS, FMS, and CFS support the theory that these 3 diseases may be different manifestations of a shared pathophysiology.
