Hi notjusttired

I got a message saying that there was a copyright violation on this image.

I am not sure about the legal situation, but I copied the image from Figure 1 of a study on PubMed, and then changed the colors of the image using software on my computer in the hope of altering the image enough so that it would not be considered the same as the original. Whether this change is sufficient to evade copyright issues I am not sure. Hip (talk) 17:37, July 28, 2019 (EDT)

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. On the image you linked to at the bottom it states "used with permission from viralzone". I went to the viralzone website and looked at the About details, and it said it allowed reuse only for presentations (I think) or a thesis, so without getting in touch to get permission it can't be used here. We would also need to credit them. Images that are publicly available on the intent normally can't be copied for reuse on another website - not even if they are in open access journals etc. If you find one that states "Creative Commons license" then those are fine. There's some more info on MEpedia:Copyright policy.

I think it's probably not difficult to find an alternative for that topic - eg via Google image search, then click Images for reuse. notjusttired (talk) 17:47, July 28, 2019 (EDT)
