==Poliomyelitis and number of outbreaks== I count over 60 outbreaks on the list, which "dozens" seems to be an accurate description of. "Many" is often used for much smaller numbers. Early cases of ME were frequently linked to poliomyelitis, atypical polio or a polio-like disease. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and poliomyelitis have a number of symptoms in common. More info on the earlier studies can be found in History_of_myalgic_encephalomyelitis_and_chronic_fatigue_syndrome#Epidemic_myalgic_encephalomyelitis_.281930s-1960s.29. ~Njt (talk) 13:17, April 30, 2020 (EDT) ==New article by Jean Munro== Are all these covered? *2018, A Molecular Neurobiological Approach to Understanding the Aetiology of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease) with Treatment Implications (Full text) notjusttired (talk) 07:47, 8 February 2019 (EST) ==Referencing== Can this be improved? It's hard to know which source gives info on which outbreaks. notjusttired (talk) 07:47, 8 February 2019 (EST) _____ The list of outbreaks by region needs to refer to the items in the dated list without copying-and-pasting the existing description. We may need to use in-page links to do that. Olliec (talk) 23:59, 8 December 2015 (PST) ---- please, what's the relevance of the numbering beside each outbreak ? --Suelala (talk) 18:13, 24 February 2016 (PST) There is none. It should probably be deleted. We should also begin to add references to each outbreak since most of them where either written up in medical journals or government reports, or at the very least in periodicals of the time. Thank you so much for your help Suelala!! --JenB (talk) 20:19, 24 February 2016 (PST) ---- I'd like some feedback please, whether the current format, or a sortable table, is a better layout. Table can be re-sorted by date, region, location - but we lose the 'table of contents' summary. See http://me-pedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Suelala/workinprogress. --Suelala (talk) 21:47, 12 May 2016 (PDT) ---- Possibly useful reference: http://www.wikidoc.org/index.php/ME/CFS_outbreaks --JenB (talk) 11:53, 15 October 2016 (PDT) ---- Would it be possible to have a list of confirmed versus suspected outbreaks? Without extensive sources for each, I fear this doesn't look as credible as it might. -- JaimeS ---- I think its interesting that only nurses/staff got ill in some hospitals during the outbreak, e.g. 1955 - Durban and Durban City, South Africa Shouldn't there be a lot of infected ill patients :In 1934 there was an experimental vaccine used on the staff at LA Hospital. I suspect that both the 1955 Royal Free and this Durban City outbreaks were also experimental vaccines.--MEcfsFMS (talk) 14:25, 12 September 2018 (EDT) == Any more outbreaks since the mid-90's == Seems each decade has had at least several notable outbreaks but none noted since the mid 1990's? Why is this? I agree, there needs to be more info regarding each outbreak as to suspected or confirmed. :I believe that the crackdown in the food industry on cleanliness, wearing gloves, and no one being allowed to come to work sick has helped. I think all industries have had different cleanliness crackdowns. Additionally, using anti-bacterial soaps and handgels and people being more aware of casual contact, not sharing drinks, and just more casual spread of germs awareness has helped.--MEcfsFMS (talk) 11:53, 12 September 2018 (EDT)
