The HFME 3 Part ME Ability and Severity Scale is a set of 3 scales created by Jodi Bassett. HFME denotes the Hummingbirds' Foundation for ME, an Australian advocacy group. Bassett stated the scales were inspired in part by the scales written by Dr David Bell, Jill Moss, those found in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Treatment Guide by Erica Verrillo and Lauren M. Gellman.[1]

The first scale measures physical ability, the second cognitive ability, and the third symptom severity.
