Fair Use: Please explain the copyright exception (e.g. scholarship/research). This image is believed to qualify under the "fair use" copyright exception, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the person or organization who created the image. It may be marked as "All Rights Reserved" or no copyright information may be available. See Fair use exception in US copyright law. Other use of this image may be copyright infringement.

Examples of fair use include:

• Scholarship/research: Used in a scholarly or research context
• Copyright expired: Author died over 100 years ago
• First published in the USA before 1923
• Historically significant fair use (deceased persons or historic events)
• Iconic and historical images, when used to show a historic event only
• Image of a commercial product not yet available to be photographed.
• Promotional image, e.g. a book cover, for an the article on the book (but not on an author's page).

Please remember that fair use media should only be uploaded to accompany a particular article, and should not be uploaded if alternative images or media exist in the public domain or under Creative Commons licenses. Graphs or diagrams should be re-created based on the original instead.
