Link rot refers to the tendency of external websites to move, change or remove content, leaving MEpedia links to them as dead links.

To mitigate the effects of link rot, whenever possible use references (footnotes) that include detailed information about the content, like title, author(s), date published and date accessed, rather than solely linking to content via external links. These details will give future MEpedia readers and editors the best chance of finding the content again (for instance, via the Internet Archive).
