Adenosine monophosphate deanimase is an enzyme that converts adenosine monophosphate (AMP) to inosine monophosphate (IMP), freeing an ammonia molecule in the process.
Deficiency in AMP deaminase results in the loss of AMP from the cell, an important source of ribose.
Adenosine monophosphate deaminase deficiency type 1 (AMDP1) is a genetic disorder fatigue, muscle pain, muscle cramping and delayed recovery from exercise. Supplementation with ribose and creatine monohydrate are thought to be helpful.
