What to do with this page?[edit source | reply | new]
This page was originally intended by User:JenB to discuss the class of cytokines known as Tumor necrosis factors, assuming that this class included TNF-alpha and TNF-beta. But TNF-beta is an old name for Lymphotoxin-alpha, and many scientists use “Tumor necrosis factor” to refer only to TNF-alpha. That is why I made this page a redirect to TNF-alpha. I see that some people still use the term TNF-beta to refer to Lymphotoxin-alpha. So, what to do?

- Do you have this resolved? I think the beta one is different but there's no page for it yet. I haven't seen Lymphotoxin-alpha referred to. I've mostly being doing a tidy on references and sorting out wanted pages. notjusttired (talk) 20:40, 24 April 2019 (EDT)
- I think the right thing to do is to make this page a disambiguation page and explain the changes and potential confusion of the terminology. When the “TNF-beta” page is made, it should make clear that the currently preferred name is actually “Lymphotoxin-alpha”. And have a redirect from “Lymphotoxin-alpha” to “TNF-beta”. Or vice-versa, it’s not terribly important. That should do the trick.
