Scientific sources -- notjusttired (talk) 12:11, July 13, 2019 (EDT)[edit source | reply | new]

This needs a re-write to include sources meeting the MEpedia:science guidelines, eg peer reviewed articles and scientific consensus from recognized authorities in the subject. Single author website articles may be interesting in a possible Blogs and website section but should not be used for article information. I've added a number of new sources in the Notable studies and articles section. notjusttired (talk) 12:11, July 13, 2019 (EDT)

ME/CFS representation[edit source | reply | new]

This page over emphasizes links been ME/CFS and OTS, and minimizes the typical symptom burden and level of functioning found in ME/CFS. Eg altered mood is key in OTS but while it can be present in ME/CFS it is not a diagnostic criteria and fatigue caused by it must be ruled out for diagnosis. Clinical terms like "Chronic fatigue" and "muscle weakness" may not be appropriate in OTS since they may be short-lived (not chronic) or a change based on the person's prior performance but not at a clinical level. E.g. Weight lifting 100kg rather than 250kg is not "muscle weakness" but a drop in performance. In ME/CFS symptoms are all severe enough to impair everyday life, which is not the case in OTS. Media sources on athletes cannot be accurate reliable or scientific - these athletes may have assumed they have ME or CFS but were actually not diagnosed or simply had OTS or fatigue from another source (inappropriate nutrition for the degree of training being typical). notjusttired (talk) 12:11, July 13, 2019 (EDT)

Prognosis, treatment and recovery[edit source | reply | new]

It would be good to have these covered, and comparisons with ME/CFS. notjusttired (talk) 12:11, July 13, 2019 (EDT)
