Talk:Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

There is no evidence of benefits and risks are unknown.

I had a friend that went through 10 sessions and got much, much worse.

More accurately: The women in the study had CONCUSSIONS. I believe these women were misdiagnosed as having Fibromyalgia. No surprise there. http://www.news-medical.net/news/20150603/Women-who-suffer-from-fibromyalgia-benefit-from-hyperbaric-oxygen-therapy.aspx More accurately Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can help CONCUSSIONS! Good news for the NFL, if working on concussions is even accurate.

What I believe is happening with Hyperbaric chambers is that there is this nifty and expensive tool and we need to find more uses for it. And we need to put together "research" (think Pace Trial) and get insurance to cover it and get people back to work. (Think disability insurance companies not wanting to pay out.)

Never mind the fact that other research is revealing HSV viruses may be actively destroying neurons leading to other neurological diseases and Dr. Pridgin is getting ready for the 3rd level of drug trials as he states that HSV-1 is found in Fibromyalgia patients. He is also developing a blood test. Do Hyperbaric chambers destroy the virus? No.

This is not treating the cause. So it CANNOT cure and until the virus is stopped the treatment CANNOT work IF it works. And where is the depth of research that it is repairing neurons? I believe patients in the study are getting a euphoric and placebo like effect. Pure oxygen can do that.

This article is more of a Press Release which has happened over and over again with the Pace Trial and CBT and GET for ME/CFS. And again, these women had CONCUSSIONS!

I am sure someone will come along and spin the life out of this and they will probably work at a Hyperbaric Chamber clinic or know someone that went through this therapy and were cured.

And I don't know why such a Press Release of an article was used. There were more balanced ones out that that didn't shout ABSOLUTE treatment and cure and more clearly showed these women all had concussions.
