Tea tree oil or melaleuca alternifolia is a traditional alternative medicine.

Tea tree oil may be used for treating small superficial wounds, insect bites, small boils including mild acne, to relief itching and irritation in mild athlete's foot and for minor inflammation of the oral mucosa.[1]
