[[File:Philip Lee.png|200px|thumb|right|ucsf.edu]] '''Philip Randolph Lee''', MD, (b 1924) was the Assistant Secretary for Health and Scientific Affairs under the Johnson administration in the late 1960's, the Assistant Secretary of Health for the [[U.S. Department of Health and Human Services]] under the Clinton administration from 1993-1997, and Director of the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California San Francisco from 1972 to 1993. In September of 2007, the Institute for Health Policy Studies was renamed the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies in his honor.<ref>http://history.library.ucsf.edu/lee.html</ref> As the US Assistant Secretary of Health, Dr Lee advocated for biomedical research for [[myalgic encephalomyelitis]]/[[chronic fatigue syndrome]] (ME/CFS) and for the term [[Chronic fatigue syndrome|CFS]] to be retired.
