The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) is an American non-profit, non-governmental organization which provides expert advice on issues relating to biomedical science, medicine and health. It was formerly the Institute of Medicine (IOM). On February 10, 2015, the IOM unveiled the Institute of Medicine report (IOMR), Beyond Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Redefining an Illness, which outlined suggestions for a ME/CFS diagnosis based on thousands of medical reports over several decades. A new name for the illness was proposed: Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease or SEID. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) outlines the IOMR diagnostic criteria under the ME/CFS page "IOM 2015 Diagnostic Criteria". ==See also== *Institute of Medicine report ==Learn more== *National Academy of Medicine Website *Wikipedia - National Academy of Medicine ==References== reflist
