Request a few pages -- notjusttired (talk) 19:51, August 16, 2019 (EDT)[edit source | reply | new]

User:Kmdenmark Can you create the pages below, by copying in the text on the right of each link. This is a very low priority task, and it's possible that only first 4 shortcuts will be needed, since we don't have any translated manuals of style yet. Capitals need to be at the start of the words, as they are in the list. Thank you notjusttired (talk) 19:51, August 16, 2019 (EDT)

We're missing the english one: MediaWiki:Shortcut. Without an English version of this page, there will be no fallback language. And why do we have MediaWiki:Shortcut/en?

I tried it the other way around but it caused problems, so I asked for a rename. It knows to fallback to /en sind that's the default language set in LocalSettings.php See MEpedia:Manual_of_style#number to confirm is working notjusttired (talk) 18:59, August 21, 2019 (EDT)
What kind of “problems” did it cause? I have trouble seeing how you could have tried it “the other way”, because MediaWiki:Shortcut was never created in the first place. It currently works only because the English version is hard-coded, which has nothing to do with MediaWiki:Shortcut/en. Therefore, MediaWiki:Shortcut/en is not needed because the LangSwitch code hardcodes the English translation. We should create MediaWiki:Shortcut in case we will ever need to call {{int:shortcut}}.
