Cite tweet[edit source | reply | new]

User:JaimeS User:Kmdenmark User:Pyrrhus User:Canele I would like to add a "Cite tweet" option to the visual editor's Cite tool. I've created a Template:Cite tweet but this page would need to be edited for the visual editor to be able to use it. Would it be OK to add another line to this page, for "Tweet" that links to "Cite tweet"? I don't think it would be much work to redo after upgrading MediaWiki and Citoid. At the moment Cite tweet can be used from Insert, template, cite tweet. notjusttired (talk) 05:51, July 31, 2019 (EDT)

This page has absolutely nothing to do with the Visual Editor’s cite tool. Do not change this page.

Duly noted. Kmdenmark (talk) 14:24, August 1, 2019 (EDT)
User:Pyrrhus It's step 2b described here and should simply update the relevant system message in Special:AllMessages. Unless you know another way t do this? Ask the documentation I've seen on this is very recent so I believe is still in use. A description of what this page does would also be useful. I can't see how a citoid software upgrade would need it to be changed. notjusttired (talk) 15:46, August 1, 2019 (EDT)
As described at the top of this talk page, this message page has to do with Citoid, the automatic citation generator, which is completely separate from VisualEditor’s manual cite tool. It also has nothing to do with Special:AllMessages. Specifically, the change you propose might break Citoid, as “Tweet” is not a valid return code from the Citoid server. It is possible, but unlikely, that a future Citoid release might change the recognized return codes. In that case, and only in that case, would we have reason to update this page. Hope this is clear.
