Better wording -- Pyrrhus (talk) 16:18, September 20, 2019 (EDT)[edit source | reply | new]

User:Notjusttired. If you want to propose better wording, please do so on this talk page. I think you need to calm down and dial back your hostility. I am not Guido. This bug was discovered by Kmdenmark and I added this language to help remind her how to handle it. Please be respectful.

OK. I didn't realize I sounded hostile. I don't think it's wise to document a bug at such a high level unless it's affecting many categories. I'm generally against documenting bugs in the screen they happen rather than just in one place.
Besides Pages in category, are there any others? I would rather put a message just on the categories involved, and link to Known bugs (which would allow us to use the link back to find where to change the descriptions). Using a message box template with border or background would be my preferred way as well, eg Template:Yellow box.
Also is it possible that the bug is in our Lua Modules rather than cite.php? I had a brief look earlier but got no further. Something seemed off with Pages needing references / citations needed yesterday but I checked today and pages were getting removed one sorted. Njt (talk) 18:48, September 20, 2019 (EDT)
It certainly makes sense to document the bug in one place, and then link back to that place as needed. I just went and added links to MEpedia:Known_bugs in the disclaimers. The exact location and nature of this bug remains unexplained.
