Leukotrienes are a family of eicosanoids produced by the oxidation of arachidonic acid by the enzyme arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase. Leukotriene production is usually accompanied by the production of histamine and prostaglandins.

Leukotrienes are important in asthma.
