Dr Jesper Mehlsen is a Danish clinician and researcher. He is a critical of the psychiatric / biopsychosocial treatment of ME/CFS and has advocated for it to be treated as a physical, neurological illness.[1]

ME/CFS[edit | edit source]

In 2019, Dr Mehlsen joined with many other clinicians and the patient group ME Foreningen in successfully calling for the Danish parliament to treat ME/CFS as a neurological illness with a biomedical basis rather than continuing to treat it as psychosomatic illness or functional disorder (medically unexplained symptoms),[2] and to use the World Health Organization's ICD classification. The group called upon the department of health to update it's information.[1]
