Doctor Ian Gibson is a British doctor who was a member of Parliament for Norwich North from 1997 to 2009. He has long been a supporter of patient advocacy and is associated with the charity Invest in ME serving both as the Chair and a member of the Research Advisory Board. ==Gibson Inquiry== Dr Gibson chaired the Gibson Inquiry into CFS/ME. It published its findings in November 2006. It’s official title was “Inquiry into the status of CFS / M.E. and research into causes and treatment“ & it was led by the Group on Scientific Research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) which was made up of parliamentarians (MPs & Lords) & it took evidence over a year. One of its main recommendations was that the MRC put £11m into biomedical research to balance out funding that had gone into CFS biopsychosocial studies ==Talks and interviews== *2006, Speaker at the 1st Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarks - (Video) *2007, Speaker at the 2nd Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarksfor Day 2 - DVD available *2011, Dr Ian Gibson talks to Helen McDermott at BBC Radio Norfolk *2012, Speaker at the 7th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarks by the Chair - DVD available *2013, Speaker at the 8th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarks by the Chair - DVD available *2014, Speaker at the 9th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarks by the Chair - (Video) *2015, Speaker at the 10th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarks by the Chair - DVD available *2016, Speaker at the 11th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening Remarks by the Chair - DVD available *2017, Speaker at the 12th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Welcome to #IIMEC12 - (Video) *2018, Speaker at the 13th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Welcome to #IIMEC13 *2019, Speaker at the 14th Invest in ME International ME Conference - Opening to #IIMEC14 - (Video) ==Books== *2017, Science, Politics, .......and ME: A health scandal in our generation, by Dr Ian Gibson (Author) and Ms Elaine Sherriffs (Contributor) - Book at Amazon ==Gibson Inquiry== *2006, Inquiry into the status of CFS / M.E. and research into causes and treatment (The Gibson Report) (Full text) ==References== Reflist
