Eleuthero, also know as, Siberian Ginseng, or ciwujia, is a herb frequently used in traditional Chinese medicine. Its species name is Eleutherococcus senticosus. It is a member of a small woody shrub that grows in mountain forests and is native to eastern Asia including China, Japan, and Russia. Traditional Chinese medicine uses eleutherococcus for reducing lethargy, fatigue, and low stamina as well as increasing endurance and resilience to environmental stresses.[1] It is believed to improve the immune system.[2] It is considered an adaptogen.
