Medicinal foods are a form of alternative medicine and may be eaten in meals or drinks including herbal tea infusions, and extracts are commonly sold as supplements over the counter. Some foods that have been suggested as medicinal foods have very weak evidence, while others, such as ginger for the treatment of nausea have significant evidence and may be recommended by medical practitioners.
