Avindra Nath
Avindra (Avi) Nath, MD, is a physician-scientist who specializes in neuroimmunology. Dr. Nath serves as the intramural clinical director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the U.S. and chief of the Section of Infections of the Nervous System at NINDS. He is the principal investigator of the NIH Post-Infectious ME/CFS Study and two intramural NINDS long COVID studies: 1) Natural History of Post-Coronavirus Disease 19 Convalescence at the National Institutes of Health, which will be collecting data to learn more about the range and timing of symptoms that people have before, during, and after COVID-19, and 2) An Observational Study of Neurologic Function after COVID-19 Infection, which will focus more specifically on characterizing post-COVID neurologic sequelae, including abnormalities in brain structure, neurologic function, and autonomic nervous system function.
