Industrial and Military Toxins[edit source | reply | new]

Incline Village and Truckee lie due north of Vandenberg Air Force Base on the California Coast, and classified launches of reconnaissance satellites are visible from Reno. In 1984 and 1985, the existence of the National Reconnaissance Office was classified. Local press are instructed by military forces at the nearby Sierra Army Depot and Beale AFB not to report on military and rocket activity, and prior to the Internet, observations of weapons and rockets in the sky were restricted to HAM radio and local gossip. The symptoms of the Incline Village, Truckee, and Yerington illnesses are consistent with exposures to toxic oxidizing agents in Rocket propellant such as hydrazine or ammonium perchlorate. In the context of the Cold War, it is quite possible advanced weaponry from a rocket launch was lost in a High Sierra explosion and this contaminated the local environment and subsequent government cover-up. Unfortunately, detection of environmental chemicals is made difficult because in 1988, the Pepcon explosion in Henderson Nevada created a trace contamination for the entire region of rocket fuel from the US Shuttle program.

Complicating matters were the limited heavy launch capacity required for the KH-11 Spy Satellite which would be launched in polar geosynchronous orbit using a trajectory from Vandenberg directly over Incline Village. In 1985 and 1986 failed launches by an Atlas rocket on the Vandenberg platforms lead to mass poisoning of military members. Given the extreme secrecy of the NRO and its programs, it is even possible the Air Force lost an undisclosed Space Shuttle intended for the Keyhole program. The Epidemic Intelligence Service which investigated the Incline Village outbreak was originally formed for purposes of Cold War espionage, and long-term "spooky" activities of Komaroff, Mikovitz, and the Whittemore Institute resemble covert long-term health monitoring programs used by the Dept. of Energy after the Castle Bravo incident in the Marshall Islands for individuals "inadvertently" exposed to radiation.

Non-hodgkins lymphoma [1992, http://cancerres.aacrjournals.org/content/52/19_Supplement/5516s.short Does Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Predispose to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma?] Paul H. Dr. Paul Cheney theorizes that a particularly virulent strain of HHV-6 swept the population. We really need a transcript or video for this. I will leave wording but not having a reference isn't a good idea.

We need a better reference for this, perhaps a quote from Erik's book or other literature he has produced. Erik Johnson, a patient who pioneered mold avoidance for CFS, theorizes that an outbreak of toxic cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) on Lake Tahoe located near Incline village may have been a causative agent.[11] (This notes the algae but it does not theorize a direct link to IV.)
