== Merger of duplicate refs on non-cytolytic enterovirus article. -- Hip (talk) 20:21, August 15, 2022 (UTC) == Hi Notjusttired Hope you are doing OK. Just noticed in the history page of the Non-cytolytic enterovirus article that you have merged some duplicate references in this article, in November 2021. It's possible this is fine, though there were some cases where I deliberately had duplicate refs. The reason there were some duplicate refs is because when creating these refs, I inserted a quotation of the relevant sentences from the source within the reference. So although the refs appear to duplicate, they are actually different, as they will have a different quotations, from different parts of the source. The idea of inserting a quotation was to make it easier for people to find the actual paragraph and sentence in the source that the citation refers to. This system is not ideal, in that it would be better to set up one reference, and then have the quotations separate; but I am not aware of any way of doing that. Hip (talk) 20:21, August 15, 2022 (UTC) :Hi User:Hip. Thanks for your comment. I had a check and it looks like the contents of the quotes inside the citations is still there, if there are multiple quotes inside references from the same source then I would use different references, otherwise I use the same reference for all - regardless of whether the quote is being referred to or not. I tend to edit in source mode so often name references and merge duplicates of those. :I'm not able to edit much right now, and I'm focused more on the upgrade testing on the staging server. Itaconate shunt hypothesis page (based largely on the videos on that page) could do with expanding, there is an axplanation/summary here] plus more in the Learn more links. Nothing peer reviewed yet. ~Njt (talk) 16:09, August 18, 2022 (UTC)
