Steve Topple is a freelance journalist and independent broadcaster living in the UK who previously wrote for The Canary. Mr Topple has written a number of articles about chronic illness, disability, and ME/CFS. Steve Topple has been critical of both the PACE trial and the media coverage of opposition to the PACE trial and psychosocial models of ME/CFS.[1]
Criticism of the PACE trial[edit | edit source]
Steve Topple has published several articles critical of the PACE trial, and linking the British government's policy of restricting illness and disability benefits to the PACE trial conclusions.[2][3]
Criticism of media bias in favor of the PACE trial[edit | edit source]
Steve Topple has highlighted the bias of the Science Media Centre's information and briefings in support of the PACE trial and other controversial ME/CFS research following the same biopsychosocial model. He has highlighted the influence of the SMC on specific journalists and news publishers, including the BBC, The Times, the Daily Mail and Kate Kelland at Reuters.[4]
