Press complaints[edit | edit source]

Invest in ME Research, a British charity, complained to the Press Complaints Commission about a number of articles by Rod Liddle on the grounds of lack of accuracy, opportunity to reply and harassment, stating "Journalists must not engage in intimidation, harassment or persistent pursuit" and pointing out discrimination and prejudice within articles by Rod Liddle and others.

In 2012, Fibromyalgia Action UK criticized Rod Liddle for his repeated attacks on people with Fibromyalgia, encouraging those who share those views to complain to the Press Complaints Commission.[5]

In a landmark ruling the UK's Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) upheld a complaint that an article by Rod Liddle on The Sun newspaper breached the standards for discrimination and privacy in "belittling" and "mocking" a disabled woman because of her gender identity and disability (sight loss).[6]

Criticism[edit | edit source]

Rod Liddle has been the subject of a number of articles criticizing his views. Journalist Frances Ryan has criticized Rod Liddle for "vilifying disabled people".[7] Liddle has also been criticized for his "track record on hate" including comments about people with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

In 2018, Eline Jeanne published the article Rod Liddle's Track Record of Hate, highlighting a series of discriminatory and offensive comments published by Rod Liddle attacking a variety of different minority groups.[8]
