While MEpedia is a project launched by ME patients, the ambition for the project is to incorporate literature from a range of related diseases.

Common co-morbid diagnoses

The following are known or thought to be frequently co-morbid with and related to ME

• Postural orthostatic tachychardia
• Ehler's Danlos Syndrome
• Mast cell activation disorder
• Fibromyalgia

Other immune and neuro-immune diseases

There are several conditions that are not known to be comorbid with ME but where our understanding of the underlying pathophysiology might inform approaches to researching all immune diseases, or where treatments may have applications across diagnosis.

Common missed or misdiagnoses

• Mitochondrial myopathy

mitochondria Important parts of the biological cell, with each mitochondrion encased within a mitochondrial membrane. Mitochondria are best known for their role in energy production, earning them the nickname "the powerhouse of the cell". Mitochondria also participate in the detection of threats and the response to these threats. One of the responses to threats orchestrated by mitochondria is apoptosis, a cell suicide program used by cells when the threat can not be eliminated.
