Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a combination of symptoms people who menstruate can experience one to two weeks prior to the start of their period.[1]

Prevalence[edit | edit source]

Katrina Berne reports a prevalence of 70% for increased/severe PMS (premenstrual syndrome).[2]

Symptom recognition[edit | edit source]

PMS or an irregular menstrual cycles is a recognized reproductive system symptom of ME/CFS in the Canadian Consensus Criteria.[3] PMS is not mentioned in the International Consensus Criteria for ME.[4]
