Professor Robert K. Naviaux, is a Professor in Residence at the University of California, USA. His work "has focused on the role of mitochondrial DNA replication, copy number regulation, DNA damage, and nucleotide signaling in development, aging, healing and regeneration in mitochondrial mechanisms of disease and development." He was joined the Open Medicine Foundation's research team in 2016, following a announcement that the ME/CFS Severely Ill, Big Data Study had a significant result in the area of mitochondria.

Dr. Naviaux directs the Robert Naviaux Laboratory at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) whose work is "divided into two groups: 1) Mitochondrial Mechanisms of Disease and Development, and 2) Evolutionary Systems Biology and Marine Metagenomics." He is founder and co-director of the Mitochondrial and Metabolic Disease Center at UCSD, the co-founder and a former president of the Mitochondrial Medicine Society (more...)

Dr J. Mark VanNess, PhD, is a member of the scientific advisory committee of the Workwell Foundation which specializes in two-day cardiopulmonary exercise test (2-day CPET) for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), fibromyalgia and other fatiguing conditions. He has been working on ME/CFS since 1999, and is particularly interested in issues of autonomic dysfunction and mechanisms that produce post-exertional malaise.

Dr VanNess serves as an Associate Professor of Health, Exercise & Sport Sciences, Department of Sport Sciences, and an Adjunct Instructor at the College of Engineering, both at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California. (more...)

Staci R. Stevens is an exercise physiotherapist, and founder and director of Workwell Foundation. She is Co-Vice President of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

Stevens had (in her own words) a very well-controlled case of ME/CFS for more than 20 years, which motivates her high commitment to advancing understanding of the illness and helping other patients. (more...)
