It is estimated that there are around 20,000 people with ME/CFS in New Zealand,[1] with a significant estimated economic cost of $30,000 – $40,000/year/affected family.[2] This represents a prevalence of 0.45% of the population.

Auckland, the largest and most populous area in New Zealand, has an estimated 6000 people living with ME/CFS.[3]
