Nelson Gantz

Nelson Murray Gantz MD, FACP, (29 October 1941 – 20 June 2006) was an epidemiologist and infectious disease specialist. He served on the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Advisory Committee from 2003 to 2005.[1] His expertise, empathy, and service to the myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome community is commemorated by the Nelson Gantz Outstanding Clinician Award given biennially to other physicians by the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.[2]

Positions included: Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg, PA; Clinical Professor of Medicine, Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine, Hershey, PA; Clinical Professor of Medicine, Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, and Chief of Infectious Diseases at Boulder Community Hospital, Boulder, Colorado.

Dr. Gantz is one of the authors of the 1988 Holmes criteria case definition for chronic fatigue syndrome.[3][4]
