A muscle biopsy is a clinical procedure to remove a sample of muscle for examination.

Evidence[edit | edit source]
Research has found numerous abnormalities in the muscles of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome patients, including evidence of persistent enteroviral infection, including Coxsackie B as well as mitochondrial abnormalities.[citation needed]
A muscle biopsy can not be used to diagnosis ME/CFS - at present no diagnostic test has been developed.
