Mary Gelpi is a patient advocate who has lived with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) since high school when she was a gymnast. She had a period of remittance of about 70% and was able to get a journalist degree at Louisiana State University. She relapsed at age 26 and now writes the blog 25pillsaday. Her mother Candy Gelpi, a former ER nurse, also suffers from the disease.[1]

Advocacy[edit | edit source]

Along with her blog 25pillsaday, Mary started the change.org petition Increase Funding For ME/CFS So We Can Find a Cure which rapidly garnered signatures.[2]

Mary discussed her disease and its funding on her local news station in the segment: Living with chronic fatigue syndrome: Woman struggles with the 'invisible disease' - WVUE Fox 8 New Orleans
