Karen Schlauch, PhD, is a mathematician in the Molecular Biosciences department of the University of Nevada, Reno, US. She has worked on the genetics of chronic fatigue syndrome.

Education[edit | edit source]

  • 1989, B.S., Mathematics/Computer Science, University of Illinois
  • 1991, M.A., Mathematics, Eastern Illinois University
  • 1994, M.S., Mathematics, New Mexico State University
  • 1998, Ph.D., Mathematics, New Mexico State University

Research[edit | edit source]

Schlauch develops mathematical and statistical techniques to use in analysis of large and complex whole-Omics experiments for biological hypotheses. Collaborating physicians, she has worked to predict possible associations of genotype and disease in conditions including pre-term labor, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Gulf War Syndrome, Alzheimer's disease and obesity.

Schlauch is the lead statistical geneticist on the Healthy Nevada Project housed at the Desert Research Institute and Renown Hospital.
