Gary E. Kaplan, D.O., the founder and medical director of the Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine, McLean, Virginia. He is board-certified in Family Medicine, Pain Medicine, and Medical Acupuncture.

The book covers Dr. Kaplan's theory that many chronic conditions such as migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic back pain, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, is caused by a deep-rooted inflammation in the brain that can last weeks to years and includes ways to help regain health.[1]

Dr. Kaplan served as a voting member of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Advisory Committee from 10/01/13 to 5/15/15,[2] and 05/15/15 to 05/15/17.[3] He has served as Chair of the Working Group.
