It has been reported that Carrone suffered from various illnesses including narcissistic personality disorder, [[Borderline Personality Disorder|borderline personality disorder]], antisocial personality disorder, [[Post-traumatic stress disorder|posttraumatic stress disorder]] (after a disfigurement that left him without an eye), and later in prison, [[anxiety]] and [[insomnia]] brought on by [[chronic fatigue syndrome]] and his fear that he might be murdered by his former associates in the Gambino family. However, sources regarding his diagnoses are scant.
