Emotional liability is emotional instability of emotional experiences including becoming easily emotional and experiencing very intense emotions, and/or emotions that are out of proportion to circumstances.[1] Emotional instability can be the result of a personality trait,[1] but also occurs in a number of neurological diseases.[2][2]

==PBA and depression

Emotional liability is different to the pseudobulbar affect (PBA), which includes uncontrollable or pathological laughing and crying, or expressing emotions which are different to those felt, for example uncontrollable laughing at funerals.

Emotional instability may sometimes be mistaken for depression.
