Cetirizine or cetirizine hydrochloride is a well-known antihistamine medication and is commonly used for allergies and hayfever. Brand names include Zyrtec and Pirtieze.[1] Allergies that cetirizine is commonly used for include reactions to mold, dust mites, pets, pollen and skin allergies.

Costs and availability

Cetirizine is widely available over the counter, and may also be sold on prescription. Generic tablets are very cheap, but branded tablets are not.

Cetirizine hydrochloride is also sold as an oral solution/liquid, for example Piriteze allergy syrup for children, which is free of lactose.
