Canada
Canada is a democratic country in the northern portion of North America comprised of 10 provinces and three territories reaching from the Atlantic to Pacific oceans and encompassing 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles). Most of this land is sub-arctic to arctic in climate, but the southern areas of some provinces are warm enough for agriculture. The vast majority of Canadians live in urban areas, such as Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and Vancouver. Total population is approximately 35 million. Canada shares a border, the world's longest, with the United States.
Demographics
The 2005 Community Health Survey conducted by Statistics Canada indicated that there were 333,816 people diagnosed with ME/CFS.[1]
In 2014, according to the Canadian Community Health Survey, the number of people aged 12 or older diagnosed with ME/CFS was 407,789 or 1.4% of the total population. The number of males diagnosed with ME/CFS was 149,013 (1%) and the number of females diagnosed with ME/CFS was 258,776 (1.7%).[2]
