Camomile or chamomile is a common name for a variety of herbs in the daisy family (astercae). Many subspecies are used, but the most common is Matricaria chamomilla, German camomile or wild camomile. Another frequently used species is Chamaemelum nobile, Roman, English or garden camomile. Often these two are used interchangeably as a mild sedative or nervative. Chamomile is most often prepared as an infusion, or tea.
